Improve your typing skills with games that make keyboard practice fun.
Help for Staff
The more often members practice typing, the better they will become. Competing in online typing games will help them improve their keyboard skills.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
TIME: 25-30 MINUTES
In this activity, you will load a gaming website and compete to find out who can get the highest score. Sounds fun, right? This is a great way to practice your typing skills, but make sure to pay attention to using the correct keys and punctuation.
Have the typing game website URL preloaded or written on the board for members to find easily if you aren’t using one of the built in links.
You can pre-select a site and let members know which one to use for simplicity.
Tips: You can have the members play these games in a leaderboard style: a competition where the members compete against each other in one game to see who can "win" terms of the highest achievements.
Try using a URL shortener if you are directing members to a different site.
TIME: 5-10 MINUTES
Gaming to Win
Who can get the furthest? Who can get the highest score? Challenge your friends to see who wins.
Help members stay on task, as they are likely to want to play their favorite other games.
Update the leaderboard when a member gets a high score or significant achievement.
Tip: More advanced members can play against themselves too. You can ask them to keep track of their own scores on paper or with a spreadsheet, and give recognition to members who show the most improvement. You could also work with members to create charts of their progress.
